ADULT EDUCATION

ADULT CLASSES

Adult Performance Classes are geared toward working professionals who want to learn more about theatre. These classes are a unique opportunity for Cleveland working professionals to learn about the process of theatre from The Cleveland Play House Artistic Staff.

THE READING CLUB

MEMBERS RECEIVE:

A copy of the script approximately 4 weeks prior to the meeting date

A series of discussion questions to help guide your reading

An invite to the Reading Club discussion, hosted at The Cleveland Play House

Members also have the option of purchasing a boxed dinner prior to the discussion.

All discussions are
from 6:15 - 7:30 p.m.

Reading Club membership
is $10 each discussion,
or $30 for all three!
Have you ever wanted to know how a play goes from words on a page to a live performance onstage?

The Reading Club is a great way to learn about how directors, actors, and designers put their skills to use in mounting a script. As part of my desire for our audiences to know as much as possible about the show they’re going to see, The Reading Club offers an enlightening and entertaining look behind the scenes of a production.

For a small fee, we give each household a copy of three of our plays in the mainstage series -- The Kite Runner, The Trip to Bountiful, and Legacy of Light. Then, on the Monday evening before performances begin, we invite you to join a member of the Artistic Staff at The Play House to discuss the potential and challenge of each play. It’s always a lively and engaging 75 minutes with a great deal of participation from our Reading Club members.

A membership to The Play House Reading Club is only $30 per household. For this one low price, you are allowed (and encouraged!) to bring your spouse, high-school-aged children, and friends. To keep it so affordable, you’ll receive just one script for each production, but please feel free to share it with your invited guests.

To maintain an intimate atmosphere, Reading Club membership is limited, so contact our Ticket Office at 216.795.7000 x4 as soon as possible.

PRE- AND POST-SHOW DISCUSSIONS

Pre- and Post-Show Discussions enhance the theatergoing experience through an interactive session that focuses on some of the key performance issues.

  • Pre-Show: Take advantage of these free discussions before every performance, led by a member of the cast, and make our plays even more enjoyable.
  • Post-Show: after every third Wednesday evening performance and every third Sunday matinee
