The Cleveland Play House is proud to offer opportunities for students to attend theatrical performances, whether they are in kindergarten or high school! Every show has curriculum connections and each one offers a unique opportunity to integrate the arts into an instructors' daily lesson planning and individual teaching style. Each time you book a student matinee, you will receive:
- NEW! Teacher Workshop: Teachers are invited to attend a special workshop prior to each production. Here you will learn techniques for integrating the performance in your lesson plan as you prepare students for their field trip to The Cleveland Play House.
- NEW! Teacher Preview: Teachers who have made a student matinee reservation will be invited to attend a special preview performance prior to the field trip.
- Study Guides: Every matinee performance comes with a study guide that features information exploring the context of the play, its time period, characters, production history and genre. The guide also contains lesson plans, student activity sheets and a glossary of theatre terms.
- Curriculum Connections: Working closely with our Teacher Advisory Committee, each script is carefully analyzed by Ohio teaching professionals, who connect them to the ODE Academic Content Standards.
- Post-Show Talk Back: After the show, students and teachers are invited to participate in a talk back with the actors. Students will be able to ask questions about the play, the characters, the themes and anything else that caught their attention during the performance.

BEETHOVEN, AS I KNEW HIM | SEP 25, 2009 | Grades 6 - 12
Experience the life of Ludwig van Beethoven while enjoying concert-level piano performance. Based on a true story, students will discover Beethoven’s world, as told through the eyes of his last surviving friend, Gerhard von Breuning.

Interactive Theatre Series
JACK AND JILL'S SUPER-COLOSSAL STORYBOOK ADVENTURE
MAY 4 - 28, 2010
Grades PreK - 3 (children must be at least 4 years old to attend) | $6 per person
Mother Goose has lost her book and Jack and Jill will have to look. We need your help to recreate all the stories and make them great. The audience will have a say and each tale will be told in a unique way. Book your ticket and be sure to join in this Colossal Adventure.
This new offering for young students is designed to fully engage the audience in the process of theatre. Students will actively participate in developing the narrative and theatrical elements of the production. By exploring well known children’s stories, this series will spark imagination and introduce the audience to the creative process. Students will learn critical thinking skills as they are exposed to the magic and wonder of theatre.

PAYMENT & POLICIES
Deposit
All orders require an initial 20% non-refundable deposit for processing and advance seat reservation. This fee is payable upon confirmation of the order and will be deducted from your total order balance.

Full payment is due four weeks prior to your selected performance date.

When ordering, please include...
- Your name, primary phone number, and e-mail address
- School or organization name, complete mailing address (including district and county), and phone and fax numbers
- Grade level(s) attending
- The production(s) you are interested in seeing
- The performance date and time (include at least two choices)
- The exact number of seats you will need for students and adults.
NOTE: If you need to estimate the number of seats, it is best to estimate the maximum number needed. If you need to change the number of reserved seats, adjustments can be made any time prior to your balance due date, which is generally four weeks before performance.
Chaperones
We advise all groups to provide an adequate number of chaperones and prefer at least one adult chaperone (a teacher or parent) for every 15 - 20 students. To assist with this, we provide one complimentary teacher ticket for every 15 student tickets purchased. Parent chaperone tickets can be purchased at the student rate.
Tickets & Seating
Individual tickets are not issued for school matinees. We operate on an open-seating basis. When you arrive, a Cleveland Play House staff member will greet you and seat your group in the appropriate theatre. Please let us know, prior to your visit, if you need specific seating for students with special needs.

CMSD TOTALLY FREE FIELD TRIP PROGRAM

The Totally Free Field Trip Program is designed to tie Play House productions directly to classroom curriculum and serve as a key learning opportunity for schools in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
Each school within the CMSD may apply for the Totally Free Field Trip Program once each year for consideration. Please submit at least six weeks prior to the first desired production date. Schools will be selected to attend one show per season based upon school need and student relevance.
What's included:
- Up to 100 tickets to a student matinee performance per school, with additional tickets available at a discounted rate
- Free transportation
- Study guide materials for each teacher involved prior to attendance
- Professional Development Workshop and preview performance tickets of the selected production for the involved teachers and school principal
- A pre-show workshop for students in the teacher’s classroom or at The Play House conducted by a professional teaching artist
- A post-show talk back with actors, immediately following the matinee performance
- A tour of the Play House complex
- An area for students to eat their packed lunches

BE A CRITIC!
After your visit to the Cleveland Play House, have your students submit their thoughts on the play. We encourage you to have your students write critiques of our productions, analyzing the designs, script interpretations, and performances. For younger students, this may mean creative drawings of what they liked about the show. Submit responses to:
